There is nothing more exciting than randomly coming across a gem in a store window. Something like that happened to Sheena a few weeks ago when she was rushing in and out of the mall and happened across this gorgeous black lace peplum top (similar here and here). She immediately got on her phone and asked her sisters if they thought they could work with it. Of course Nina and Dipti jumped on it and told her to get it immediately! Funny thing is, all three of them had completely different ideas for what they wanted to do with it! Check out how they all envisioned the top and how they made it come to life in their own unique styles!
Sheena immediately thought that it would be the perfect overlay for a sari – both on top of the blouse and on top of the entire sari. She loved that there was subtle gold in it that would perfectly go with a sari that had the same gold sheen.
Nina thought that this was the perfect piece to put on top of a long anarkali as a jacket to add a little oomph to an otherwise plain look. She is most comfortable in these long anarkalis as she’s making her way back to her pre-baby body so adding a jacket allowed her to keep it fashionable and comfortable!
Dipti immediately wanted to make this an all black, everything black look. She thought instead of a skirt, this peplum top would look great on her dhoti pants that she had from this outfit. The gold detail on the zipper and the peplum would work great to break up the black without taking away from the dark look she was going for. She also added a black and gold belt to the look just to spice it up a little!
Of course there is no chance this top was only going to be used in Indian looks. Sheena had a dress she bought ages ago, waiting for the perfect addition to the plain top. This jacket completed the look perfectly!
Nina loved this on top of her formal skirt and blouse. She appreciates looks that easily translate from morning to evening and adding this top as a jacket to a summer office look easily took this from meetings to happy hour!
Dipti, keeping it casual and easy, paired the top with jeans and called it a day. She knew that she wanted to be discreet so she added the top to her favorite pair of high waist jeans and a bandeau.
It’s real treat to get 6 different looks from one top! It makes us do a little happy dance! Keep your eyes open for those needle in a haystack pieces where you can take it in totally different directions – especially with all these end of season sales going on!
